Look great and feel good - choose flowers for the kitchen

Because of the not very “friendly” climate, the kitchen as a permanent place of “residence” is not suitable for all indoor flowers. However, there are quite a few plants that will feel comfortable even here, purifying the air and having a positive effect on the health of the hosts.

Ficus

In nature, ficus grows in tropical forests, so rain, sun, wind are familiar to him. Ornamental species for home cultivation are also unpretentious, only they cannot stand drafts, cold watering and waterlogging of the soil.

Ficus elastica and lyre-shaped - plants are tall, with smooth, large, dark green leaves. They are great for growing in the kitchen as they are easy to care for:

  • it is easy to wipe dust and dirt from large leaves;
  • they tolerate shading well, they can be placed in the corner;
  • they need to be watered only as the topsoil dries up, try not to move and replant every 2-3 years;
  • they are suitable for placement on the floor, as they grow up to 1.5 meters and look more advantageous separately.

And the lush dark green crown will fit into the classic, Scandinavian and avant-garde interior.

Aloe

This plant is native to the arid regions of Africa, where herbaceous, shrub and ampelous species are found - all of them are unpretentious. Aloe species make up colorful compositions in apartments, offices, kindergartens.

Aloe is a succulent, it has fleshy leaves in which water accumulates, so the plant easily tolerates a short-term lack of watering. Feels great in the kitchen, thanks to such qualities:

  • no requirements for air humidity;
  • likes a room with frequent ventilation;
  • normal room temperature is suitable.

You can also leave aloe in the light, but shade a little in summer. Aloe juice is used in folk medicine to heal and disinfect wounds, burns and treat gum disease.

Money Tree

Another name for this plant is Crassula. It is a succulent from the deserts of Africa. Its leaves are like coins, oval, dense, fleshy, green in color. If you keep the money tree in a well-lit place, it will take on a red tint around the edges.

Another name for it is fat woman. The leaves and roots of this plant store water to survive drought. At home, this is a completely unpretentious plant:

  • any humidity is suitable for him;
  • it must be watered as it dries;
  • there are no special requirements for illumination;
  • loves airing;
  • not susceptible to diseases and pests.

Crassula can be used to form a decorative tree. Remove the side shoots, and when it grows up to 30 cm, pinch the top so that it stops growing. Then shoots will appear on top, forming the crown of the tree. Take a larger pot so that the heavy adult plant will hold, as its root system is weak.

Place the money tree anywhere in your kitchen. The northern windows give little light, but the money tree will survive it, just the leaves will not have a red tint.

Anthurium

This inhabitant of tropical forests grows in nature like an epiphyte, clinging to other plants or sprouting independently in the ground.

The plant pleases with flowering, which, subject to care, will be year-round.The combination of long, dark green leaves with refined flowers of red, white and even lilac color makes anthurium a decoration of any room. It used to be considered a capricious plant, but later hybrid species appeared that are easy to grow at home.

These features allow you to keep it even in the kitchen:

  • leaves and flowers are glossy - it is easy to remove dust from them;
  • the temperature of the content coincides with the usual room temperature;
  • there are no special requirements for lighting, can be placed on windowsills or on the floor if the plant is tall;
  • likes high humidity, you need to spray regularly.

Blooming anthurium cannot be rearranged from place to place and the flowers themselves cannot be sprayed. Watering is necessary abundantly, but letting the soil dry out.

The plant is considered a symbol of male strength, male happiness, well-being and prosperity in the house. Blooming anthurium will adorn any kitchen.

Chlorophytum

A plant native to the rainforest. Long pale green lanceolate leaves, collected in a lush bush, may have white stripes in the center.

This flower is not only unpretentious, but also creates a favorable atmosphere by itself - it purifies the air. This is the "number 1" for greening the kitchen, because it has a number of advantages:

  • absorbs harmful substances - carbon monoxide, formaldehyde;
  • humidifies the air;
  • reduces the number of bacteria;
  • it is suitable for normal room temperature and humidity.

This plant is ampelous, so it should be placed in hanging pots, on top shelves or on cabinets. The soft green lush crown will brighten any decor. Just remember to spray the flower. Variegated species can be kept on south-facing windowsills, as chlorophytum can withstand even bright sunlight.

These plants will withstand the temperature and humidity changes that occur in the kitchen, and will add live colors to the interior. Place large plants on the floor, so they visually increase the height of the room. Small bushes - on shelves, in hanging pots and on window sills.
